Arriving by plane

  • The closest airport to the University of Ottawa is Ottawa International Airport (YOW). In addition, Montreal International Airport (YUL), one of Canada’s larger hubs, is about 180 km from Ottawa.

Ottawa Airport

  • If you arrive at Ottawa Airport, you can go to the University or downtown using the OC Transpo (public transit) bus 97 (octranspo.com).
  • You can also check with your hotel if a shuttle service is offered.
  • Cabs and Ubers are also available at the Ottawa Airport (free WiFi available at the airport).

Montreal Airport

  • If you arrive at Montreal Airport, please check in advance with your airline if it operates bus service from Montreal Airport to Ottawa. Air France and KLM, for example, sometimes include a bus connection between Montreal Airport and the Ottawa Rail Station (XDS) as part of their airfares to and from Europe.
  • Greyhound Canada also offers regular bus services from Montreal Airport and from downtown Montreal to the University of Ottawa and to the Ottawa Bus Terminal (greyhound.ca).
  • Train transportation connecting Montreal Airport and Ottawa is also available with Via Rail (viarail.ca). The nearest train station to the Montreal Airport is Dorval. Via Rail runs shuttle service vans between Dorval station and the Montreal Airport (the shuttle takes just a few minutes but make sure you have double-checked the details about ordering the shuttle on the website or by calling Via Rail).

Arriving by Train

  • The Ottawa Train Station is located at 200 Tremblay Rd, Ottawa, ON K1G 3H5 (viarail.ca).
  • OC Transpo (public transit) buses 61, 62 and 95 will take you to the University of Ottawa or downtown (octranspo.com).
  • Cabs and Ubers are also available.

Arriving by Bus

  • The Ottawa Bus Station is located at 265 Catherine St, Ottawa, ON K1R 7S5 (greyhound.ca).
  • OC Transpo (public transit) buses 6 and 7 will take you downtown (octranspo.com).

Arriving by Car

Direction from Toronto
Take on ON-401 East and ON-416 North to Nicholas Street in Ottawa. Take exit #118 from Trans-Canada Hwy/ON-417 East  
Use the left 2 lanes to merge onto Ontario 401 Express  
Merge onto ON-401 Express  
Keep right at the fork to continue on ON-416 North, follow signs for Kemptville/Ottawa  
Use the right 2 lanes to take exit 75B to merge onto Trans-Canada Hwy/ON-417 East to Ottawa direction  
Keep left to stay on Trans-Canada Hwy/ON/417 East  
Take exit #118 for Nicholas Street toward Gatineau/Autoroute 5  
Turn right on Laurier Avenue East  
Turn right on King Edward Avenue  
Turn right again on Osgoode Street and you will find a underground parking on your left. Welcome to uOttawa!  

 

Direction from Montreal
Follow directions to Transcanadienne WestO/Autoroute 40 West/O and Trans-Canada Hwy/ON-417 West to Nicholas Street until the exit in Ottawa. Take exit 118 from Trans-Canada Hwy/ON-417 West  
Merge onto Autoroute 720 West downtown, keep on left  
Continue onto Autoroute 20 West/O  
Use the right 2 lanes and continue on the Highway/Autoroute 720 West/O  
Take the exit direction to Hwy/Autoroute 15 North  
Use the left line and follow 70-West/Ouest for Hwy/Autoroute 40 West/O/Boulevard Marcel-Laurin to Pierre Elliott Trudeau/Autoroute 520/Ottawa/Gatineau/Quebec 117  
Keep left to stay on Route Transcanadienne West/O-Autoroute 40 West/O, follow signs for ON-417/Ottawa/Gatineau  
Continue on Trans-Canada Hwy/ON-417 West/O  
Keep right to go to Hwy 417 (Ontario Point of Entry)  
Take exit #118 for Nicholas Street toward Gatineau/Autoroute 5  
Turn right on Laurier Avenue East  
Turn right on King Edward Avenue
